2021 has seen a massive step forward in competitiveness within the RapiKart Racing League but the leader, Neil Durrant, has opened up a gap on the rest of the field. Neil hasn't had it all his own way this season, with a difficult start at Round 1 at the Herefordshire Raceway. Neil bounced back in Round 2 at the Mansell Raceway by taking the overall victory. Further class wins at Daytona and redemption at Hereford has seen Neil open up a 32 points lead over 2nd place Adrian Perez.
Adrian enjoyed immediate success in his debut season in Rapikart and has proven to be incredibly consistent. Graeme Thomas is only just behind him and could easily still pinch that second place finish in the championship. It all gets even more interesting when you add the 'dropped round' system.
With dropped round applied (so far!), Neil increases his lead at the top to 36 points, Adrian and Graeme get a lot closer, with just 6 points separating them. Sebastian Miller has quietly worked his way up the championship and is just 4 points behind Graeme!
Jon Sparks heads the next group, with Gareth Thomas, Jennifer Tomkins and Sam Taylor all within a few points of each other. Sam has now missed a few rounds which has seen the early championship contender slip down through the table.
The next group is incredibly close, with Jamie Higgins and Michael Huish both on equal points (with dropped round applied) and Cameron Edwards just a few points behind.
With Round 6 just around the corner, there is all to play for. Can Neil extend his lead? Who will come out on top between Adrian and Graeme? Can Sebastian leapfrog both of them? We haven't got long to find out!
